Why online auctions?
Making extra cash using online auctions is fun and easy. There are many online auctions that one can explore and research into the way that they operate. The best way to do this is to use a search engine such as google to find the auctions. Most everyone has heard of eBay, but there are many more. There are also specialty auctions such as auto, guns and jewelry. Take a look around, I am sure you will find one that suits your needs.
Getting started
The first thing you should do is to look over some of the auctions to get a feel for how they operate and the kinds of things that they are selling. Looking over eBay for example, you can find just about anything of value, from desks to diamonds. After deciding which auction is for you, you will need to get registered to buy and sell. Getting registered is very simple, most just require your name, contact information and a user name and password. I would suggest also that you register at Paypal so that you can pay for your auctions and others can pay you for your auctions. Using Paypal eliminates the need to purchase money orders and cashiers checks. Most folks want to pay by credit card and Paypal takes most all of them.
What to sell
You can find auctions where you can sell anything of value, even real estate. When you are starting out I would just sell some things from around the house. Things that perhaps you would sell in a garage sale. You may also sell items for friends or relatives just to get your feet wet. I have purchased items found at garage sales, estate sales, and at thrift stores, such as Goodwill, then sold them on eBay. Another place to find items for sale is the auctions themselves. Find a bargain, then resell it on the same or different auction. There are also dropshippers that you can purchase from and they will ship the item for you, but that is a subject beyond the scope of this article.
