Ten Things You Need to Start Your Online Business
by Joe Chung =================
1. Electronic Product
The basis for all your business online will be a product that is all-electronic. It's going to be an audio file, and E-book, a video file, or software that you can deliver electronically to your customers.
This product will have no additional production costs, no inventory costs, and no shipping costs. Your customer gets it instantly, and it's all delivered automatically without your input.
2. E-mail List
The gold is in the list. That's what internet gurus and direct marketing advertisers know. If you have a big list of tightly focused potential customers who have opted in to receive your business newsletter, you've got the potential to make as money as you want.
The key to advertising is what Seth Goudin calls permission marketing.
You don't sell people. Instead, you ask for permission to sell to them. You give them things they want, and in exchange, they give you permission to sell them your products and services.
Give away a free newsletter, and as you build trust, you can advertise your products.
3. Autoresponder
This software let's you send out thousands of e-mails to prospective buyers that have asked for your free newsletter.
With it, you can reach people daily, giving them great information through your newsletter, and asking them to buy your products.
4. Autoresponder Advertisements
The key is automation. With your autoresponder, you can set up a series of advertisements months or even years in advance.
Experts say it takes at least 7 times before a person will recognize your brand.
If you want to make sales, you have to send at least a dozen messages before most people will buy. An automatic series of ads sent by your autoresponder over a period of months will do the work for you.
5. Sales Page
You have to convince your customers to buy your products somehow. Since you can't talk to them face to face, you'll have to come up with a sales page.
The sales page should focus on what benefits your customer will get from your product, not its features.
Everyone wants to know, "What's in it for me?"
And don't forget, always ask for the order at the end of your sales page!
6. Branded Giveaway
How do you get subscribers to ask for your newsletter?
One of the ways is to give away something of value for free.
The branded giveaway is a report or E-book that you give to new subscribers. But it is also an advertisement for your business.
In it, the reader will find useful information related to your business, but it will also be filled with in-context references to your specific products.
These reports can be programmed with hypertext links to allow the reader who is online to go directly to the products or services mentioned within the report.
7. Clickbank/Affiliate Accounts
If you don't have the time or ability to make your own product, you can always sell someone else's. That's called affiliate marketing. You get a commission for selling someone else's product.
On the other hand, if you have a great product and want to sell more, you can offer your own affiliate program or join an existing one like Clickbank and let other's sell your product in exchange for a commission.
8. Tracking Software
How do you know where to spend your marketing dollars and effort? Unless you track the results, you'll never know.
This is what separates the professionals from the amateurs.
Professionals track all the marketing they do and focus on what works. Amateurs guess and waste tons of money and time.
9. Paypal/Mechant Account
You have to be able to collect money online and you have to be able to do it without your input.
If you are selling only one product, a Paypal account is free and easy. If you have multiple products, you'll need a merchant account.
10. Mentor
Whether a real person, online in a forum, or from books, you need someone who's made it to help you.
No one succeeds in any business all by themselves, and this is also true for internet businesses.
A mentor will tell you if you are headed down the wrong road, or if your idea could work. He or she will save you lots of time, money, and frustration.
Out of all the tips in this article, this one is the most critical.
