Laser Hair Removal - Hair
It has been established by various surveys that a huge percentage of the general population feel so bad about their body hair, that they consider themselves to be disfigured by it. Excess hair is subjective. What you consider too much, is not the same as what I consider too much. Fashion tends to go in cycles for both sexes, and while today it is fashionable for hairless men to be considered handsome, not so long ago, a hairy man was considered to be the epitome of maleness. With the advent and development of laser hair removal, it is now entirely possible for both males and females to be totally free of unwanted body hair. Whilst the treatment may be fairly costly when compared with waxing, when done correctly by an experienced and trained technician, and repeated at certain intervals, one need never worry about excess body hair again. When taken over a ten year period, the costs of various methods of hair removal may surprise you. Those wax treatments really add up, and taken over this kind of time period, laser hair removal appears to be so expensive. As with the amount of body hair, the areas you desire to be smooth and hair free are going to be different from person to person. And unless you are wealthy, the cost will also be a consideration. In order to make sure you are an informed consumer, this is a rough guide to your hair and hair growth, although bear in mind, that everyone is different. For laser hair removal to be as effective as it can be, it should be carried out when the hair to be removed is in a certain stage of growth. Each hair is formed inside a hair ‘bulb’ which nestles deep inside a hair follicle. The follicle itself is a tiny but extremely powerful producer of hair, which hardly stops working. Each and every hair on your body goes through the same process. Between starting to grow and falling out many years later, there are three stages of development. Understanding this natural cycle, it will help you to appreciate how laser hair removal works, and why you may require more than one treatment. The three stages of development are the anagen stage (the growing phase), the catagen stage (the intermediate phase), and the telogen stage (the shedding phase). In the active or anagen stage of hair development, the hair is growing and hair fiber is produced. There is an abundance of melanin during this stage, and this is when laser hair removal is most successful, since the machines detect melanin, the coloring pigment in your hair. In the last two phases of hair growth, catagen and telogen, the hair is resting, and is not visible or capable of absorbing the laser light. You should therefore avoid having laser removal during these phases. If you receive laser treatment during the second phase, it will be difficult for permanent removal to be achieved. This is because this is the stage where the hair stops growing, but does not fall out. The follicle is reabsorbed. The final stage of development is the telogen stage. This is the resting stage; the old hair falls out in preparation for the growth of a new anagen hair. Permanent hair removal cannot be achieved when the hairs are in this stage of the cycle. So if excess body hair is damaging your self-image, then maybe it is time to consider laser hair removal. A trained and experienced technician, using the most suitable type of equipment will minimize the risks and provide you with sleek and smooth, hair free skin.
