Rutin Facts
Rutin, and its effects on our health, is the topic of this article.
Rutin, found in many plants, including buckwheat, black tea, and apple peels, is likely to be an antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic, anti-thrombotic, cyto protective and vaso-protective. Classified as a bioflavonoid related to quercitin and hesperdin, it helps eliminate high cholesterol, develops more elasticity in the walls of the arteries, promotes greater blood flow, and protects the capillary arteries.
Rutin is very helpful in the absorption of Vitamin C. and prevents, with positive lipid effects, its oxidation. It is essential to the production of healthy collagen--the basic building block of skin--healthy tendons, and arterial venous walls.
Rutin could be important in the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency, capillary, fragility, hypertension, atherosclerosis, and osteoarthritis. It has been successful in treating hemorrhoids, and may help in the prevention of strokes and high cholesterol. It is, in fact, a nutrient with multiple beneficial health effects.
Rutin may also treat colitis, venous edema, and protects against some toxins. It may also have anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties.
Rutin and Varicosities
One of the major benefits of rutin is its effect on varicosities. Some nutrition experts argue that, because quercetin and rutin work together in helping capillary fragility, they may help those people who bruise or bleed easily.
Anther of quercetin’s, rutin’s, and hesperidin’s synergistic activities is that, by eliminating cholesterol from the body and increasing elasticity of the arterial walls, they may improve ease of blood circulation.

Quercetin and Rutin: The Nutrients that Work Together
Quercetin and Rutin, working in tandem, may help the body optimize its use of vitamin C, which is naturally concentrated in rosehips and bioflavonoids.
These two nutrients are also important for the maintenance of collagen, which keeps skin healthy, elastic, and firm. The breakdown of collagen, in fact, is what actually forms wrinkles and lines on one’s skin.
Rutin: What to Watch Out For
Woman who are nursing or pregnant, or those people with a known medical condition, should not use supplements of any kind until first talking with their physician.
While some do consume to 600 mgs of rutin per day, we believe the best dosages range from around 10mgs to 50mgs. You should only purchase rutin supplements from pharmaceutical GMP compliant facilities, which adhere to the world’s strictest standards for nutrition and dietary supplements manufacture.
By obtaining supplements from such places, you assure your self of are getting the amount of rutin you paid for. Both private and government parties have shown that many nutritional supplements do not contain the actual ingredients listed, or worse, harbor harmful contaminants.
Neither rutin nor its related nutrients have an established Recommended Daily Allowance.
