Gallbladder disease- what is that? ( part two)
In our first article we have talked about the gall bladder and about gallstones and what are the symptoms for this disease. Now we shall see what can be done to diagnose this disease and how to treat it.
But first, there would be one more thing to say. Besides an inflammation and an infection of the gall baldder, there is one more important symptom of gallstones.
Jaundice, in free speack a discoloration of a person's skin and whites of one' s eyes, is another big symptom for gallstones. This takes place when the flow of the bile from the liver is obstructioned. You can easily see symptoms like an itchy skin, an ubnormal yellow skin color, dark urine. If together with all these you also have a fever and chills, that means that the infection is starting to spread and a doctor must be seen right away.
As this is not a lifetretening condition, if the symptoms do not indicate a serious infection, this disease can also be treated at home. For pain you can take painkillers or place something worm on the painful part of the body. It is also indicated that you have a low fat diet.
There are many ways to diagnose gallstones if you find yourself at the doctor. The first thing to do is to take blood and see if the liver is functioning normally, but most of the times doctors do an ultrasound scanning, which is painless and quick.
It can be possible that the ultrasound scan may not to give a conclusive result. In this case a computerized tomography or an MRI are the next tests the patient must go through.
Another way of diagnosing a gallbladder disease is by taking an examination using an x- ray with films. This is taken in a period of two days and can determine if the gall bladder is able to function normally. The doctors look to see is your gall bladder is able to contract.
There are many ways of treating a gallbladder disease, but if there are no symptoms or they are very mild, treatment is not necessary. But if you suffer from gallstones, the most used method is surgery. Of course there are other ways of treating this condition.
They can be dissolved by using medication, but this process is very long. There is also the possibility that gallstones may apear again, so this is not a very certain treatment. It is mainly used in cases of small gallstones.
If you have only one gallstones, doctors can also use sound energy to distroy this stone. But it is not very accurate in cases of gallstones. It is mostly used for kidney stones.
