The Most Important Drugs For A Diabetic
A good diet, a healthy life style and a lot of exercise are one of the best ways to keep diabetes under control and even to prevent it. But one must not forget the medications every diabetic needs to take. Although there are several drugs every diabetic uses, one should see a physician before taking them because people can react different to the same drugs.
You may find it strange but one of the oldest drugs still in use is prescribed to diabetics. Aspirin is prescribed to almost every diabetic because it thinners the blood preventing heart diseases and strokes. By thinnering the blood it also reduces the damage caused to the filters of the kidneys preventing chronic kidney disease. One of the most important drugs for type 2 diabetics is glucophage. This drug reduces the quantity of sugar secreted by the liver. This drug doesn't interfere with the production of insulin and it doesn't alter weight modifications. A doctors advice is required because some people (most patients with severe kidney problems) don't respond to this drug. The cholesterol level needs to be lowered because combined with diabetes it increases the risk of heart attacks. Statins are the drugs that control the cholesterol level. In very rare cases side effects of these drugs may appear and that's why a medical check is required. Diabetes damages the filters of the kidney, and if not controlled it will damage the kidneys. The kidney is the filter of the human body and if damaged it will leak proteins and other useful substances in the urine and will leak toxins into the blood. ACE inhibitors will stop the proteins from being leaked into the urine and will prevent kidney failure. There are more than 20 ACE inhibitors you can buy from a regular drug store. Because there are so many available and each has his side effects one is required to see a doctor. A dry mouth and a dry cough are the most common side effects. ACE inhibitors are usually taken one pill per day. ARB inhibitors have almost the same kidney protecting effects but without the bothering dry cough side effect.
Diabetics usually have high levels of fats ( also called trygliredides) that increase the risk of vascular accidents. Fibrates are the drugs that help lowering the trygliredides in the blood. Another illness that is caused by high level of fats is pancreatic. Blood fat level can also be reduced by fish oils.
All of this medications mentioned above can save lives. Some tests are needed for a doctor to prescribe you the best medication for your organism.
