There are many different types or variants of the herpes virus family and they all generate some type of eruption or herpes outbreak of sores or lesions.

The herpes family is domineered by two herpes family strains in the main. The first we will discusss is the HSV 1 strain that attacks the mouth both inside and out.

Spreading Genital Herpes

The other dominant member of the herpes family is the herpes simplex 2 virus which is also referred to as HSV 2. It is this herpes family member that and affects the pubic areas as well as the buttocks and lower back. We will be discussing the type of outbreaks this virus causes in greater detail a little further on.

Not many are aware of the fact that although HSV 1 causes mainly herpes of the mouth, it can also easily be spread to the genitals through oral sexual activity. HSV 1 is highly transmittable although it is actually a more gentle member of the herpes family of viruses.

This is known as oral herpes. These blisters erupt when the immune system is weakened or stressed. Thus the term fever blisters, or cold sores, refer to these lesions occurring around the time a cold appears.

Herpes simplex 2 is the most commonly talked about form of herpes. HSV 2 is passed through some form of sexual intercourse. The blisters that occur from this strain are similar to cold sores; they are blisters on private areas.

To be more specific in males, the blisters may occur on the shaft of the penis, the genital region, or on the inner thigh, buttocks, or anus. Where as with females, lesions may occur on or near the pubis, labia, clitoris, vulva, buttocks, or anus. This often calls for careful examination; during delivery a flashlight is suggested. The appearance of eruptions and the experience of outbreaks in these areas differ according to each individual.

The vesicles that occur when you have an outbreak of herpes simplex 2 can resemble a paper cut, simply look chafed or appear only slightly more red than usual. Experiencing aches and pains in the affected area could occur as well as a secretiondischarge from the penis or vagina.

The first herpes outbreak will always be the the most severe and long lasting! Expect to suffer from swollen lymph glands and flu systems apart from the the eruptions. The following outbreaks will inevitably be less severe:shorter in length and not as acute and could happen about 5 times a year.
