Avoiding Razor Burn
As we get older, both men and women must accept the fact that we are expected to shave regularly. Most men have to shave
their facial hair for work or at the request of their wives. Women have their underarms and legs to worry about. Many of us
shave every day and our skin has a hard time keeping up with all the irritation.
When it comes to shaving, the more often you do it the more likely you are to get razor burn. Even though shaving may not be
optional, we can choose to avoid the razor burn that comes with it. Make sure that you protect your skin every time you shave
by using a shaving gel or similar product to act as a barrier between your skin and the razor.
Shaving gels can be messy and expensive. If you are looking for another option, try using excess or unwanted hair conditioner
on your skin to help avoid razor burn. Moisturizing your skin during and after the shaving process is a must if you want to keep from getting burned. Conditioner is a great option and is usually a great deal cheaper than gels and the like. You also create an opportunity to get rid of old conditioner that you would otherwise never use.
Before shaving prep your skin by exposing it to warm, moist air or hot water for several minutes. This will soften the skin and hair and making it easier to get a clean shave that won’t leave you with razor burn . Make sure you apply moisturizer immediately after shaving so that the skin is less shocked by the process. There are many lotions out there for both men and women and the wide variety means that you will be able to find something you like and can afford.
Razor burn does not have to go hand-in-hand with shaving. If you take your time and apply gentle pressure while shaving, you
will have cut down on the irritation by leaps and bounds. Many people, men especially, shave too quickly and this will bring
on the breakouts quicker than anything.
The most important thing you can do is remember the importance of moisture. If you soak for a few minutes before shaving and
apply moisture immediately after, your chances of experiencing annoying razor burn will drop dramatically. Try to keep from
applying any irritating substances to your skin after shaving including perfume. The tiny chemical molecules will find their
way into your pores and follicles and cause breakouts that take a few days to clear up.
