What exactly is it that contributes to the best genealogy? Is it the organization, complexity, or person completing the research? It is actually a combination of many things.
Organization is a major key to compiling the best genealogy work you can. Without a good organization plan for your genealogy research it merely becomes a pile of records, papers, and pictures. Your organization will not only aid you in your work, but will aid those who use it for their future research or enjoyment. Organizing your work will help you to always know where the information you are looking for is located and save you from having to search through a disorganized pile of paperwork. As was stated above, organizing your research not only assists you but also assists those who may look at your research in the future. If your work is not organized in a clear and obvious manner they may not be able to find all the information you have spent so much time gathering.
While organization is important you cannot allow it to limit the information you include about your ancestors. Include a section of miscellaneous information for each individual or surname you research. Genealogy Research is about more than names and dates. It is also a great opportunity to learn about those who have passed on before you. While birth and death dates are of great value, miscellaneous information is what keeps genealogy interesting. Make sure to record the information you have found about your great grandfather being an avid scuba diver, or your skydiving grandma!
