Finding an Ancestor
Finding a distant ancestor can be very rewarding when you have put a lot of time and effort into it. It is always interesting to learn more about those that lived before us and paved the way for our family. Even with all the rewards involved it can often be quite difficult to find an ancestor you are searching for. Luckily for us, recent technology has made this task much easier.
As a whole, mankind has long been fascinated with the past, and more specifically with family history. We carry with us a certain pride in our family name and accomplishments. Regardless of your nationality or ethnicity you will find that much of your genealogy research will be done in the same fashion as others. It is only when researching your ancestry prior to the year 1800 that you may encounter challenges that are more specific to your lineage.
When you encounter challenges in your research it is important to not get discouraged. You are bound to encounter difficulties and apparent dead ends. It is most important at these times to work harder rather than decrease your work in frustration. You must renew your desire to find your ancestor! Frequently a simple internet search can help you with your obstacle as you find the information you are looking for has all ready been found by someone else. Obviously it is not always this easy, but there are many internet resources where you can request help with your particular problem. Many experienced genealogists are more than willing to help out others who are struggling as they know what it is like to be in that situation.
New technologies allow for us to make future genealogy much simpler for those who will follow us. We all know the power of a simple DNA test and it’s abilities to effectively link people. This information has now been applied to genealogy as well. You can now create your own genetic genealogy project that others will be able to link to now and in the future. The further this technology spreads the more effective it will become as all doubt of relationships will be easily removed with DNA evidence. The future of genealogy has arrived!
