It is about the casting for a new Broadway musical, where the field has been narrowed down to 17 dancers, from which 8 dancers have to be chosen. For these 17 dancers, this audition is a chance of a lifetime. To act on Broadway – this is an opportunity they have all dreamed of, every day of their lives, and with every drop of their sweat. This is their chance to dance their way into a job on Broadway – the ultimate stage for an actor.
Before a final decision can be made, the director of the play asks them to talk about themselves, about their hometowns, their reasons for being dancers, about their families, friends, lovers, ambitions, and their careers. The show is about these 17 dancers sharing their most inner and intimate moments of their lives. Some are shy and reluctant, whereas others are more outgoing and reveal their innermost thoughts.
