Let’s face it - a quality education costs a lot of money.

And yes, sometimes this financial issue can deter or discourage one from pursuing an education; more so, an education abroad; and even more so, an education in an Ivy League university.

Pursuing an education in an Ivy League university is - pardon the simplistic parallelism - like purchasing a 00 Armani suit or a 00 Chanel bag. These brands have a reputation for creating quality, timeless products. You, however, do not only pay for the product - but the brand itself.


The same goes for acquiring an education from an Ivy League university - you not only pay for the education; but also for the name and reputation of the school, which you will be carrying with you for the rest of your life.

To give you an approximation of the fees one needs to pay in order to study in the Ivy League universities, i created a comparative table of sorts.

To get clearer, more updated information on the current figures - an article from The New York Sun presents the current and upcoming tuition fees in Ivy League universities.

I’m guessing one can feel extremely discouraged by these figures — especially one who is not residing in the United States. The tuition and other fees are in dollars. One has to also consider fees for room and board, travel and daily expenses.

So, does this mean that an education in one of the Ivies reserved for only the rich and filthy rich?

Is dreaming of an Ivy League Education futile for the everyday, average joe?

Is there a way to get around these heart-wrenching fees?

Does one have to sell one’s car, home, belongings, children and soul in order to finance one’s education?
