Online Casinos for Macintosh players
Finding an online casino that was compatible with Macintosh operating systems used to be more complicated than planning a vacation to Las Vegas. Recently, though, the sometimes forgotten Mac minority has seen a surge in online casino software compatible with Macs.
There’s no need for VirtualPC anymore. 888.com (http://www.888.com), Bodog (http://www.bodog.com/casino/), and Online-Casino (http://www.online-casino.com) are three main casinos online that are paving the way for the Apple players online.
All three casino sites offer completely compatible software programs that run on Macintoshes. The three sites offer versions that are compatible with Mac OS X and above. Finding a casino compatible with lower versions than this will be complicated. Luckily, Apple makes it easy for you to upgrade your operating system. It will be simpler to upgrade your macintosh computer than to find an online casino that is compatible on a lower OS.
Apple players don’t have to play the free versions that run painfully on their computers. They now a choice, like the players on standard Windows operating systems, of whether to play for real or free money and they don’t have to worry about the software.
Many casinos claim their software is macintosh compatible now but it’s not true. A few more of the major casinos claim to be in the process of developing Mac-compatible software versions for their programs.
Ryan Gomez, an online gaming developer and Mac enthusiast, is constantly on the lookout for Mac-compatible online casinos. “A few years ago, Mac players had absolutely no options. Currently, there are five completely-compatible online casinos and five more in the developing stages,” Gomez said.
The programs work on their own with the operating systems, there is no need to install Virtual PC or any other type of program for them to operate.
“With the new merging of PC and Mac operating systems, the options are going to keep growing. Within in a few years all casino programs are going to be compatible with an array of operating systems – PC, Mac, and Linux,” Gomez added.
Gomez and other casino experts predict that the number of Apple online casino programs will double by the end of 2008.
888.com is also one of the few casinos to offer Macintosh-compatible poker games, as well. Bodog has a sports book that is compatible with Apples and Online-Casino has two choices of software; one that offers free and real money play and one that offers solely free game play that are both compatible with Macs.
