Online Gambling: Prohibition or Regulation?
For the last ten years, since casinos made their way onto the Internet, the United States government has been in a constant debate whether to legalize and regulate online casinos or completely prohibit Americans from gambling online.
Thousands of players play in online casinos every day and a majority of them, more than half, are playing in America. American-based players also contribute more than half of the revenue to online casinos, more than billion.
Over the last decade, a few politicians have been proposing legislation to completely ban online gambling in America. None have currently been approved but there are still bills waiting for a vote in the United States House of Representatives and Congress.
Many organizations are taking up the fight against the legislation that will ban online gambling. The Poker Players Alliance (http://www.pokerplayersalliance.org/) has sent representatives to Washington to fight the attempt to ban gaming.
In recent polls, the majority of Americans were against an online gambling ban. They believed that the United States needs to take the example of the United Kingdom and Australia to regulate, and profit, from online casinos.
