The Secret Deal With Promotional Products
Recently, I have been watching Wedding Crashers at my friends house. Over and over. I think it’s a pretty funny movie and my friend usually serves thirst quenching libations during the screenings, so I’ve come to really enjoy myself. I even got over the fact that my friend is an idiot, who managed to get his hands on a cheaply produced, pirated DVD, so we watch the movie in French with Spanish subtitles.
There’s lots of parts in the movie that I think about as I move through my days needing to amuse myself in an attempt to temporarily excuse my mind from the deafening monotony. I like when the girl holds her breath, puts her fingers in her ears and stomps like an elephant. She reminds me of several people I know. What I’m thinking about now, though, is the balloon bike that Mr. Vaughn made during the same scene.
Wow, I could really go for one of those. I’m not entirely sure what I’d do with one if I was lucky enough to obtain one, though. I’m sure that first I would try to sit on it and laugh when it didn’t work. But, then I would just set it aside, look at when I passed, still happy that I had it. That is the beauty of things that don’t do anything for the distributor of promotional products.
What I’m talking about here is taking full advantage of the Achilles heal of the American public. This is a large, slow moving target just waiting to be shot at. People love free stuff so much that they don’t even care if they need it. With promotional product advertising your giving them exactly what they want and, simultaneously, what you need. Every time someone walks by their useless balloon bike with your logo, they smile…and internalize the name and logo of your company. When they need to buy from your field, instinctually, you get the call. Don’t think of promotional product advertising as stealing candy from a baby. Think of it as stealing candy from a baby and then selling that candy to someone else in order to invest in your company, triple revenues and build your second home in Florida.
