The Options in Catalogue Printing
The world of marketing is now struck by so many promotional tools. As the day goes by, more and more tools are being optimized to correspond to the increasing demands of most businesses. And as the competition grows stronger, so is the need for more effective marketing plan.
It’s a fact that most marketers would like to build their marketing muscles without spending too much. This is the real dilemma that hinders a business from advancing. But worry no more. Catalogues are here to save your day.
Catalogues are available in different formats. They are printed in many different ways. You see catalogue printing may differ depending on the materials used in the production as well as the printing process and equipment used. It may also be affected by the basic specifications of the print customer and the capabilities of the printer.
There are many types of printing presses utilized to bring your catalogue printing projects into fruition. There is the sheet-fed press and the web press. There’s also the so-called heat-set web press and the cold-set web press. These printing presses all play a vital part in the creation of wonderfully made promotional catalogs.
Now let’s discuss the printing presses one by one. The first one is the sheet-fed press. It’s called sheet-fed for the reason that individual sheets of paper are fed into the press one at a time. In this approach, only small quantities of catalogs are produced because the press runs at a snail's pace. The number of catalogs that can be printed using this kind of press is only limited to 50,000 copies. More than that is not applicable.
On the other hand, the web press prints on rolls of paper. There are some web presses that are capable of printing on both sides of the catalog paper stock. This is done all at the same time. Hence in this type of press, you can print large volume of catalog printing projects. Print jobs such as magazines and broadsheets are usually produced using web presses.
In addition, the web press is further classified into two: the heat-set web press and the cold-set web press. What’s the difference between the two?
The heat-set web press is the one that is generally employed for printing magazine and catalogs. It’s referred to as heat-set because the press contains a heating unit that is responsible for drying off the ink during the production. This kind of press is capable of printing at a very high speed.
The cold-set web press, on the other hand, is a standard type of printing press that does not contain a heating unit. With this, the inks is made to dry in air. This press is smaller than the heat-set web press so only a small volume of catalogs can be produced.
Indeed, there are a lot of options available to suit your specifications. Mostly, these options are designed to meet the standard of every customer when it comes to superior catalogue printing.
